Grant Coaching

If you’ve been keeping up with my Instagram @magnoliagrants, you probably know I started exploring starting grant writing Master Classes, and even sent up an IG page for it, the Grant Writer Collective. Well, I’ve shut down the IG, and decided to take things in a different direction, one more true to Magnolia Grants and its brand. If you’ve signed up for the Master Classes, you already know the secret, but here it is for everyone that is considering or just reading my blog today :)

As I started thinking about how to take my class idea in a different direction, I thought about a few learning experiences in my own life. One skill I am constantly trying to improve in my own life is figure skating. I’ve been skating since I saw the 2006 Olympics, and it’s been a part of my life ever since. On the day of my first skating lesson, my skating coach literally had to drag me across the ice. I had never been on ice before and I was taking my first skating lesson, with younger kids, I was 15 years old.

I felt so out of my element taking my first skating class, the only sport I had ever tried before that was track, and the skills didn’t transfer (ha). Thankfully, I had an amazing coach named Dawn who taught me so much. I definitely would not still be skating today if it wasn’t for Dawn, she had such great energy and passion for the sport, it was contagious and inspiring. I went pretty quickly from group lessons to having private lessons with Dawn and began to progress even faster and she had time to address any concerns or fears I had because at the end of the day, they were my lessons. I paid for those lessons with my hard earned money from my part-time job at CVS when I was a teenager. I literally had to work 5 hours just to pay for one half hour lesson, so having someone so invested in my success meant the world to me.

Instead of putting together a class that is one size fits all, I’ve decided to take my coaching to a 1:1 level instead. So for those who have already signed up, everyone got upgraded to the 1:1 coaching series. For those who are interested, I am putting together 5-week individualized coaching. We will work together to figure out how best to structure your course in Week 1, and have 4 more to really get down to business. The 5-week class features 5 30-minute phone calls, an action plan for each week, resources to help you regardless of where you are in the grant writing or grant writing business process, and more!

If you’ve seen my entrepreneurial shout-outs, you know I am really excited about everyone starting their small businesses and following their passions. I want to be the coach to you that Dawn was for me, and help you to feel inspired and invigorated to start grant writing wherever you are in the process. If you’re interested, feel free to drop me an email and check out my coaching page!
